DBSD Superintendent Announcement

The Denali Borough School District Board of Education is pleased to announce they have selected William (Bill) Burr as the next superintendent of the Denali Borough School District. This selection follows site visits from Mr. Burr and the other finalists.

During the visit, finalists visited each school, participated in a staff and community forum and engaged in one-on-one interviews with the Board.

Bill Burr is an experienced school superintendent and district leader with nearly 30 years of service in Alaska’s public schools. He has demonstrated sustained success strengthening student learning in school district systems. He serves in key governance roles advancing educational opportunities in Alaska as President of the Southeast Regional Resource Center Board, the Wrangell Chamber of Commerce, and four-time President of the Alaska Society for Technology in Education. He currently serves on the CoSN Superintendent and UAS School of Education External Advisory Committees, informing his community-centric, student-success, and systems-oriented approach to districts complex and evolving needs.

Mr. Burr will begin serving as DBSD Superintendent on July 1, 2026. The Board is excited to welcome him to our schools and community.
